Should (modal verb)

  1. We use 'should' to talk about obligations and duties in the future, present and past or to give advice
  • You should speak English in class
  • You should submit your application before the end of the month
  1. We often use 'should' + 'have' + past participle is to criticize our own or other people's actions
  • I shouldn't have bought this car
  • He shouldn't be telling other people what to do
