Present perfect (uses)

  1. We use the present perfect (have/has + past participle of a verb) to talk about experiences
    1. I've lived in 5 different countries
    2. Have you ever been to the Caribbean?
  2. To talk about things that are unfinished
    1. I’ve known him since I was 11 years old
    2. We’ve lived in this house since I was a boy
  3. To show the result of a past action
    1. My brother has broken his leg and now he can't go on vacation
    2. The storm has caused a lot of damage in the city
